Will Xmas 2010 Be A Disapointment?
This year has been one of scrimping and saving, although the UK is remerging slowly from the crippling recession of 2008-2009 the recovery is slow and the fallout from the job losses, there is always a delay in the effects talking place and now the aftermath has kicked in. You will have heard in the planned spending cuts that will be happening soon , although they are necessary for Britain to reduce it's debt which if not dealt with will create bigger problems in the long run. This affects every aspects of our lives, whether we decide or invest as well as making crucial decisions about our own spending.
For the man on the street this means that cut backs will need to be made in certain areas of life, especially in 2011 when the VAT rate will increase to 20%. Personal Spending will have to be cut drastically because if your outgoings remain consistent we will actually be paying out more in the long run. Most of can accept this and get on with life, the thing it will really have an impact on for a lot of us is Christmas. Christmas is the one time of year where our spending goes up astronomically, we buy all the Christmas gift ideas that are given to us and often splash out on expensive presents like gadgets and personalised gifts.
A lot of expenditure goes on travel costs and food as well. Xmas dinner is another area which a lot of money is spent on. Typically a family dinner will host anywhere between 6 and 12 people, that's a lot of mouths to keep fed and watered. Try to make lots of minor cut backs this Christmas and you will be surprised how much money you save. Try to shop for presents online where you will usually get better discounts and free delivery. IYou could alos buy the igngredients your your xmas feast locally, saving a packet.
