Ford Comes Out On Top Of Quarterly Survey
Kelly Blue Book, the main source for automobile purchasing and pricing details in the United States, has released its quarterly survey of new car buyers. Though the study is not done scientifically, it is considered relatively authoritative. The results of this survey reveal the effects of negative press, and show a big shakeup in preferences. The top five factors that car buyers are considering are driving comfort, reliability, driving performance, safety, and efficiency in their new car.
Ford takes top honors
This survey, done at the exact same time last year, put Toyota as the top choice for new vehicle buyers. As outlined by the latest survey from Kelly Blue Book, 29 percent of people thinking about a new automobile are considering a Ford car before all others. This is one more piece of proof that truck sales may well be increasing in the next few years.
Toyota takes second spot
Safety issues have caused Toyota to take on various recalls within the last year. 22 percent of people looking at purchasing a new automobile are nevertheless considering a Toyota, although those safety issues are well-known. High fuel efficiency is, in part, the reason for this very strong showing. The particularly successful "Swagger Wagon" advertising campaign is also cited as a reason Toyota had such a strong showing.
Third place for Chevrolet
New auto purchasers are, 21 percent of the time, looking for a Chevrolet vehicle. This could possibly be attributed in part to the upcoming release of the Volt, though the hefty price tag is likely scaring just as numerous buyers away. The brand did very well, in part, because of the reputation for safety in Chevrolet vehicles.
Fourth place for Honda
Honda is doing very well on the list thanks to their reputation for saving fuel and being very reliable. Currently 20 percent of new vehicle shoppers are thinking about making this American-built, Japanese-owned brand their newest set of wheels.
Hyundai sneaks into fifth place
South Korean carmaker Hyundai ousted competitor Nissan for the fifth place this year. Well-known fuel sippers, Hyundai autos are being considered by 13 percent of automobile buyers.
