How Can You Tell If That Used Car Is A Heap Of Junk
When it comes to used cars the Office of Fair Trading actually gets a lot of complaints from people. Quite a large proportion of these complaints are from people who feel they have been duped into buying a banger. It is quite easy for those with some car knowledge to spot the bangers but if you do not know a lot about cars then it is more likely that you will not see the signs.
But the tips below might help you to recognise some of these signs when you decide to look for a used car.
- It is always a good idea to look underneath the car in order to check for possible leaks. Although you can often have puddles under cars which can be explained, it should still be viewed as suspicious.
- Make sure that you take the time to examine the paintwork. If you spot any differently shaded areas on the car you can be sure that something bad has been covered up. You can assume that the car has been involved in an accident.
- Anything that is made with rubber should be examined. Things like the caps and belts. You can get a picture of how the car has been looked after by examining these.
- Used cars that look like they have been sitting idle for a long time are at a big risk of developing problems. Make sure you check it out if you suspect this.
- If the seller tries to put you off taking a test drive then you should be very wary. How can you be sure how the car drives if you are not allowed to test drive it? And do not agree to compromise by letting the seller drive you around in the car as this is not enough you have to drive it yourself.
When you think it's time to look out for used cars, it's always best to carry out a proper research ahead of time. This reserach will let you find the best cars available for each category you look at. And when you finally finish your research, you could find yourself leaving the car delears with a splendid used jaguar or even a used lamborghini.
