Coco Chanel's Legacy Lives On In Chanel's Ever-Popular Watch Lines

Chanel has been known all over the world for creating chic couture clothing, accessories and perfumes. The House of Chanel was founded in 1910 by Gabrielle “Coco” Chanel. She started creating different types of clothing that Chanel also wore herself and thought that it felt comfortable. After several years of climbing up the social ladder, she was able to establish her name in the fashion industry. She then launched her own perfume which is the Chanel No. 5 which became really popular and until now is remains highly profitable.

World War II came upon during the 1930’s and the entire Paris fashion industry was cut off with the coming of the Nazis. Chanel made a great come back during the 1950’s and was able to restore her name into the first ranks of haute couture. She was able to introduce several additions to her clothing line such as bell bottom pants and pea jackets. Chanel was also able to include women’s purses that also caught the attention of her patrons. Gabrielle “Coco” Chanel was still working when she passed away in 1971.

1987 was the birth of Chanel Watches. Jacques Helleu, the creative director of Chanel designed the brand’s very first watch called “Premiere”. The Chanel “par excellence” watch was taken after the shape of the Place Vendome and the stopper of the No. 5 perfume bottle. The watches that Chanel launched were able to keep the reputation that Chanel clothing had. Elegance, sophistication and avant garde style made Chanel watches live up to its original brand name. Premiere watches exuded class and was able to maintain its status as a luxury brand not only because of its brand power but also because of Gabrielle “Coco” Chanel’s hard earned reputation for distinct quality and style.

At the start of the new millennium, Chanel launched the first of its long line of models for the Chanel J12. The watch continued to evolve thus being the benchmark for a lot of firsts in the world. After several years, Chanel J12 became known as a Fine Jewelry Watch in 2005 when Chanel J12’s designers made it into a class on its own. The Chanel J12 was the first to be made from no scratch ceramic material, it is also the first unisex watch that could reach 200 meters and still be water resistant.

The evolution of the Chanel J12 watch continued to prosper as Chanel J12’s designers created the exact opposite of the deep piano black that was exclusively used by the brand into the opalescent white that was obtained using the new high tech snow toned color. Diamonds were eventually added to the watches to keep it not only luxurious but also captivating to the eye. The essential-watch tourbillion was also added to make the watch not only for display but also for serious time keeping. Chanel J12 were mixed with white gold, baguette diamonds and rubies to further enhance the beauty of the watch and add a touch of glamour to the complications that made the watch mouthwatering to watch connoisseurs and jewelers alike.

As time passes by, Chanel continues to captivate the hearts of not only the older generation but also the younger ones. The new breed of clientele that Chanel has helps the company to stay at the top of the luxury brands striving for excellence. As Gabrielle “Coco” Chanel once said, “In order to be irreplaceable, one must always be different” this is what makes Chanel one of the finest and the best.
