Half-brother Of Cook Embezzles Millions From Comic
Forty-five-year-old McCauley of Wilmington, Mass., has entered a guilty plea in Middlesex Superior Court for embezzling millions from half-sibling Cook. The Boston Globe reports that McCauley embezzled the cash between 2004 and 2008 while working as Cook's business manager. McCauley pleaded guilty to 27 counts of larceny in excess of $250 each, 3 counts of forgery, embezzlement and other charges, said Middlesex Superior Court prosecutors. A Mass. Judge has sentenced McCauley to six years in prison and probation that will continue for 10 years after his release from custody. $3 million check forged by McCauley through the accounts of Dane Cook
Martha Coakley, office of Massachusetts Attorney General, spoke with the Globe over it. She said that Cook's account had cash taken out of it by Darryl McCauley many times. He even forges a check once from Cook to himself. The amount was in $3 million. Erika, who is McCauley's wife, is being charged with receiving stolen property and with larceny also.
McCauley had been with Dane Cook from the beginning
Dane Cook's comedy career begun in the 1990s and Darryl McCauley was the business manager for Dane Cook since then. Cook did not notice something had been wrong until Dec 2008. McCauley had been ordered by the court to make restitution. This could be made by giving up companies in Massachusetts and Maine along with Real Estate property he owns. The properties were purchased with stolen funds.
From humor to acting
At the beginning of Dane Cook's career, he did standup comedy. College students tend to say Cook is best comic as his humor is the exact same as theirs. Of course, other comedians call him sophomoric as he is the competition. Speaking candidly, some have even gone so far as to call Dane Cook a "poseur.". The comedy career of Cook helped him get into acting more easily. He played in "Employee of the Month" with Jessica Simpson and "My Best Friend's Girl" with Kate Hudson. This showed he could do romantic comedies as well. He can even do severe films. "Mr. Brooks" stared him as a serial killer
