Road Signs In Greece
Recently I visited the land of the longest coastline. Greece is surrounded by Ionian Sea, Mediterranean Sea and Aegean Sea. It is definitely one of the most beautiful countries I have visited in Europe but it has one downside to it in personal view which is the driving. Driving is a nightmare in Athens. Me and my friends hired three used cars for 6 days and we felt like we driving in India, Nepal or China.
It's not the traffic or anything that annoyed us, it's the road signs. Everything thing is in Greek especially if you are find your away round Athens it will take you whole day, you definitely need a navigation but then you have another problem navigation is in Greek too.
But driving outside Athens is just another beautiful experience. Our 3 hour driving trip to Delphi was absolutely beautiful. The road leads through the mountains. It is a very dangerous road that leads to Arachova and then Delphi but it is definitely a most beautiful drive. It reminded me of our driving experience in the Himalayas of Nepal. The best driving experience was certainly in the island of Poros and Aegina. There are few temples and beautiful historical sculptures to see in this island so hiring a car is definitely a good thing.
Driving is certainly a nightmare in Athens but outside the city its a treat. You will just need time to get used to Athen's traffic and road signals. If you are travelling during the spring or summer time, it is better to hire a car rather than driving in public transports, as it gets boiling hot in Greece. Public transport also only run till 11p.m..
We hired Audi A4 Saloon for our trip to Delphi and I thought I will write something about this car. I have always been a fan of writing car reviews on the cars I have driven on holidays, because it is important to let people know how this car behaved on our trip. Audi was a great drive, very reliable and economical as well. So my recommendation is definitely Audi A4 Saloon if you are looking to a hire a car in Greece.
