The Rise of the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore T3
Audemars Piguet’s Royal Oak Offshore line has always been renowned for its bold and daring designs with the use of unconventional materials or colors. Even before its release in July 2003, the Royal Oak Offshore purposely created for the movie Terminator 3:Rise of the Machines was the subject of great speculation by many enthusiasts eager to see how far Piguet’s audacity has gone with its design.

The Royal Oak Offshore T3 was developed in coordination with Arnold Schwarzenegger, a longtime Audemars Piguet aficionado and star of Terminator 3. Though the titanium case was typical of other Royal Oak models with its octagonal bezel and prominent hexagonal screws, the dimensions were unexpectedly extreme.T3 Offshore is equipped with a self-winding AP Caliber 2226/2840 movement and a power reserve of 60 hours.The 32-mm mega tapisserie dial comes in either charcoal gray (25863TI.00.A001CU.01) or in silver (25863TI.00.A080CU / ID: 17579.01) with Arabic hour markers. The caseback is titanium engraved with the T3 insignia.Despite the size, the titanium case is light and it is designed to be comfortably secured to the wrist or over the sleeve with horn-back crocodile leather strap and titanium tang buckle.
Many doubted it could surpass the legendary status of its predecessor, the Royal Oak Offshore “End of Days” chronograph, because of its proportions. Nevertheless, it has now achieved the same status as a sought-after collectible as a limited edition model of only 750 pieces. Aside from Schwarzenegger, it has also been seen worn by other celebrities like R&B superstar Usher, another known AP fan.This timepiece is definitely one for the books that stands out above the rest with its obscenely large design that will irresistibly draw attention to any lucky owner.
