The States' Tastiest Drinks And Sodas
One thing America is absolutely brilliant at is innovation. From engineering and construction (see the new Bay Bridge in San Francisco) to food and drink, the USA has proven to be amongst the best in producing inspirational and, in the case of the latter, delicious creations.
In the world of drinks and sodas America can be classed as a world leader. The range of different drinks – and the immense number of flavour combinations within it – is staggering. Here we provide just a sample of those that have made it across the ocean from the States to foreign shores.
Welch’s Grape Soda
Welch’s have been producing grape-based products since 1869 and have a large range of different product types, from grape juice through jams and spreads to the carbonated Welch’s Grape Soda.
It is this last one that has made its way abroad and is now sold by importers to consumers in the UK and other countries. Usually available in, unsurprisingly, grape flavour, other flavours include strawberry, pineapple and fruit punch.
Welch’s take great pride in their production and use of grapes and with these drinks and other products you can see it pays off.
Mello Yello
Mello Yello is a citrus flavoured carbonated soda that is one giant drinks corporation’s answer to another’s wildly popular, similarly flavoured drink! This one, however, is described as smooth and it certainly tastes it.
Launched in 1979, Mello Yello is available in the UK through specialist importers, as well as across Europe. If you’re looking for an alternative to Mountain Dew then this is it.
Stewart’s Beverages
Stewart’s is a beverage company with a long and interesting history. Frank Stewart opened his first root beer stand in 1929 in order to supplement his income as a teacher. 82 years later the company has grown massively and now produces a whole range of different drinks and sodas – the original root beer is still in production though!
In addition to root beer, Stewart’s produce cream soda, orange and cream, ginger beer, key lime, cherries and cream, grape soda, peach soda, birch beer and finally Wishniak black cherry! Quite a choice for the soda connoisseur – and available outside of the US!
Speaking of root beer, it is not just Stewart’s that are supplying the non-US consumer with the drink. As it has become more and more popular across the world, especially in Europe, more and more companies have started to export it.
You can now buy A&W Root Beer, IBC Root Beer and Barq’s Root Beer in the UK alone! And those brands aren’t restricted to root beer outside the US either. As an example, A&W Cream Soda is readily available too.
