The Right Flower for Your Next Rose Quilt
Like me, you may have made a couple of rose quilts in your time as a quilter, and why not? Its a lovely design one that I am happy to have on my bed to this day!
But were you aware that there are several differing kinds of roses and all of them have different meanings?
Red Roses
The iconic color of roses, the red rose symbolizes the meaning of deep and powerful feelings. While most believe this to be love, which is one of the most powerful emotions, it is also used to convey feelings of respect, admiration and devotion.
White Roses
White is the orginal and time honored color of purity and innocence. These are well suited and often used by a bride in her first marriage. They can also be used to convey sympathy or humility for other occasions. A white rose quilt would go down a treat with a recently married couple!
Yellow Roses
Being such a bright and exuberant color, yellow roses are used when you wish to convey feelings of fellowship or caring. Being a cheerful color makes it an ideal choice if you are making a rose quilt as a gift for a newly born baby.
Blue Roses
On the other end of the scale is blue. These flowers represent elusiveness and mystery. This is sort of apt as blue roses don't grow naturally and are tough to come by even with special scientific breeding and growing.
Mixed Colors
When you mix differing types of rose colors, you are combining a lot of the feelings and emotions that come along with the flowers. As an example, if you were celebrating a newborn child, you might go with just yellow or if you wanted, yellow to mark the happiness and white to represent pureness and innocence.
Whatever the colours you select, you know that you will be in an excellent position by selecting the best colours for your next rose quilt!
