Discover The Washington Monument

Whenever I look at the Washington Monument, I often think to myself about the story of the tower. The structure is an obelisk that stands at 555 feet that was made to honor General George Washington, the first US President, and his commitment to this country. The structure is made from granite, marble and sandstone and its construction was completed and it was opened to the public in 1888. These days, the Washington Monument has grown to be one of America’s most popular monuments and one of this country’s greatest achievements.

I know there are other people who ask themselves about the actual meaning of the Washington Monument. Various books, stories and even cinematic movies were made to try to describe the true meaning and reason for this great structure. The Washington Monument is the symbol of America’s fifty states and stands for all the states in America that survived many struggles in the beginning and became triumphant at the finish.

Living in the United States is a aspiration of many people in other nations. America is the land of milk and honey, where your dreams can come true. But history tells us that these ideals did not always prove to be true. At one point in time Americans fought hard to survive, and where they almost lost hope, and were on the verge of losing their nation’s freedom to the British.

It started in 1775 when George Washington led the new United States victoriously against the British army as the Commander in Chief of the US army in the course of the American Revolution. In 1787, his political leadership and excellent military expertise has him preside over the writing of the American constitution. Since of his dissatisfaction with the Articles of Confederation’s seemingly weak constitutional writings, George Washington presided over the constitutional convention that created the US Constitution draft. Washington became the initially president of the US in 1789 as much as 1797 and was productive in producing rival factions work together that made a unified nation. Two years after, George Washington died at Mt. Vernon and he left a lasting legacy for his devoted patriotism.

If I will clarify it by myself, I have to say that the Washington Monument was built to commemorate the powerful foundation of the American men and women developed in the course of the American Revolution. It was created high enough to ensure that the rest of the American people could be reminded that their country was developed via the greatest foundation employing the strongest will, courage, and determination that if the highest challenges happen, Americans will overcome them all.
