New Car Line-Up Revealed By General Motors

The giant of the motoring industry, General Motors, who own brands like Chevrolet, GMC, Cadillac, Pontiac and Buick, have reveasleda line-up of new cars. Only last month, General Motors recovered from 40 days of bankruptcy, in that time the US government invested $50 billion into the company, making it now 60% public owned.

Now that they have got out of danger from bankruptcy, the car manufacturer is looking for new ways to help increase business. At the beginning of August they announced how they are exploring new ways to sell their cars. One of the methods announced, which began on August 11th, is by selling the new cars on eBay, the online auction site.

On August 11th, General Motors invited more than 100 consumers to take part in a event with then in Detroit. The event was comprised of showing off a series of new cars that will soon be released by the motoring company. After bouncing back after being struck by bankruptcy, the company have looked at their car models and are looking to make some new changes.

Currently the majority of their cars are large, gas guzzling tanks that although have been popular in the past, they are not so much now. To try and full in some younger clients to their showrooms, General Motors have designed a set of smaller and more fuel efficient cars for a number of their car brands.

There were a few cars announced, one that's expected to become very popular is the Chevrolet Volt. This car is scheduled for release sometime in 2010 and it's become popular due to the number of miles per gallon it can do. Currently, it's been reported that the new Volt can do around 230 miles per gallon of city driving.

The other announcement that was welcomed was the new model Cadillac. The new model Cadillac is a small sports sedan and you can choose either rear or four wheel drive. The new car came with no release date, but it is said to be smaller than the very popular CTS model.

During the event, a number of planned changes were announced by General Motors, all of which are expected to take effect within the next 3 years. Some of those plans included doubling the amount of models Buick have, going from the current 3, up to 6. We'll have to keep one eye open to see what cars are released first and what sort of effect they have on General Motors' market share. Hopefully we'll also see some of the models coming to the contract hire market. At this stage, the only big American car you can lease in the UK is a Chrysler lease. Alternatively, you could just opt for cheap van leasing considering they are the closest to a Chevrolet, size wise.
