Where to Go For Exciting Beijing Nightlife

Meet Beijing’s top bars, cafes, and nightclubs at the city’s best nightlife street of Sanlitun.
During the Beijing Olympics, swimming star Michael Phelps, soccer star Renaldhino, and Movie Star Vince Vaughn were among the many celebrities to make appearance at the bars here.
The street, better known as ‘Sanlitun Bar Street,’ lies in the famous embassy area near Beijing’s east 3rd Ring Road. Every day from afternoon till late night, this bar street is packed with party goers: expats, foreign tourists, and locals who are looking for party fun.
The street consists of two parts: Sanlitun North and Sanlitun South. Most of the bars take their refuge in Sanlitun North, where you could rock until early morning. It’s pretty close tothe 4 star Beijing Taiyue Suites Hotel.
This north part of the street is home to several dozen bars, most of have tables outside where customers can have a drink while enjoy the fresh air. The treat can be comfortable even in Beijing’s sweltering summer, as lush trees keep you out of the sun and allow you to enjoy the cool shade.
With international customers on the rise, many bars here offer liquor and beer, from IPAs to Glenfiddich, coming from around the world. Some even offer drinks from your hometown!
In spite of this option, many international customers fall in love with local draft beers such as Yanjing and Tsingdao, which are delectable and uplifting by anyone’s taste. They sell at about 25 RMB (slightly over $3 US), a little expensive by Beijing standards, but still cheaper than back home.

At night, many bars stage live band performances, which soon bring the party to its climax. Party goers wiggle to the hip beats the band play, bartenders work on exhibition flair, and waitresses weave in and out of the crowds to serve your beers. Although the spirit might be a little different from that back home, but at the height of it, nobody seems to care!
Of course, if you want to keep things quiet and have an intimate conversation with your loved one, there are bars tucked in the alleyways offering just that. The ambience can be quite nice and romantic.
You may fix your dinner here, with most bars offering exotic food from spaghetti to borsch. Otherwise, just take a short walk to Sanlitun South for a more formal treat.
Sanlitun South is home to a few restaurants serving all kinds of south Asian and European cuisines. Ambassadors and diplomats patronize these restaurants a lot, so the food must be good.
