The Place Sedans Got Their Start In
Sedans cars are very popular because of their particular configuration that allows the passengers of the car to sit comfortably, while the cargo space is also generous, which makes sedans to be appreciated as well endowed family cars. ’Sedan’ seems to be a word of Italian origin, since this language contains the term ‘sedia’, their word for ‘chair’. During the sixteenth century, the first litters were imported into Europe, and the names for these means of transportation derived from the same Latin term, ‘sella’. Even if the old time litter can hardly be called a sedan variant, the way means of transportation evolved is strongly related to how the people from those days saw the proper way of traveling around.
Renault was the first car manufacturer to make a sedan model, which was called Renault Voiturette Type B; the thing about this car was that it was never actually called a sedan. Because the said vehicle had a roof above the passengers’ seats and two doors, the concept was believed to be quite revolutionary. It took twelve more years for the term ‘sedan’ to be introduced by car manufacturers, and it was an American company that launched the first official sedan. The name of this company was Speedwell Motor and its headquarters were in Dayton, Ohio. It happened in 1911, and the Speedwell vehicle had room for four passengers, something that was not the norm during that time. The sedan model was finally imposed on the car making market, and other fully closed cars with the same configuration followed soon after.
A variety of trends for Best sedans
There are many types of sedans, despite the fact that they have the same configuration. Different trends placed their foot in the door over the years, which finally led to the large variety of sedans that consumers can choose from today. One of these trends was the one of the notchback sedan, particular through the fact that the trunk was clearly separated from the rest of the vehicle. Many other sedan trends came and went, but there are still many hardtop sedans, chauffeured sedans, and sedans with two doors that have a large fan base. Needless to say, the chauffeured sedans are the luxury type, with configuration, extras and features that make them the most coveted sedans ever made.
