Aerial Advertising Steps for Promoting Yourself
High flying advertising is both cost productive and effective. A message trailing behind an airplane can hardly be ignored. In fact, it almost compels those on the ground to read it as it streams by.
People have promoted products and places through TV and the printed page for decades. Some have asked themselves, "Why not try something different for a change?" Using aerial advertising, a banner flapping in the wind behind a plane will be read. But will the message be remembered? The key is in the design of that message.
First, it is good to talk to a design team about your message. Share with them what you are trying to convey. What is the goal desired? How can this goal be achieved in a few words? As you meet with the designers, be prepared to change your ideas as you talk it through. They are the experts and often have suggestions based on their experience that will make it the most effective possible.
Once you are clear about that message, think about the wording. Some aerial banners convey an entire message in one sentence. Others simply invite someone to go somewhere or to read something which contains more information. For example, it might invite someone to read a newspaper ad, or visit a website. A restaurant logo or name would invite hungry observers to stop by on the way home.
The next step is to determine when and where the message of the banner will best be displayed. A message to tune into a certain radio station would be effective when flown over rush hour traffic. Messages in this manner have been displayed at fair grounds, beaches, concerts, anywhere a large group is assembled out of doors.
Do you know exactly how you want your ad to look? If so, design it yourself on a computer and then ask the banner company to reprint it in the needed large format. If you are designer challenged, ask the experts to take your goals and make them visible. Most companies can have the banner ready in two weeks, a little longer during the busy summer.
Advertisers ask, "How long will people view my ad as it flies by"? The average view time for an airplane message is about 17 seconds. That is considerably longer than the few seconds a newspaper or magazine ad is viewed. Consider also that it is the only ad that will be seen or heard for those 17 seconds and they can't 'flip to another station.' Also, the plane usually flies over an area multiple times and each time the message is brought to the minds of those below.
Banner advertising has proven effective. Picture your message streaming over a crowd of watchers. Give it a try and see if your revenues do not increase as a result.
